Description: About four miles east of my coprolite collection site I came upon a petrified tree. Near it were large chunks, looking much like some prehistoric Paul Bunyan had felled a Mesozoic tree leaving the chips to petrify. Most likely freezes and thaws shattered the one tree long after it petrified, but left its neighbor intact. I buried the intact tree and collected some of the chunks.
