A photo of cruiser is printed on cachet #3010 by Alvin Eckert, USCS #9964. USS Columbia: this 413 foot cruiser was built in Philadelphia and commissioned April 23, 1894. She joined the US Atlantic Fleet that year and five years later joined the fleet that destroyed the Spanish Fleet in the Caribbean. This proud cruiser later served on the Atlantic Coast during WW I and decommissioned on Aug 21,1919.
