The squadron was assigned to the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing and flew transport and support missions throughout the war.HMM-365 was equipped with the CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter, which was used for a variety of missions, including troop transport, resupply, and medical evacuation. The squadron was responsible for providing helicopter support to Marine Corps units operating throughout South Vietnam, often in some of the most dangerous areas of the country.During the war, HMM-365 was involved in a number of significant operations. The squadron played a key role in the defense of the Khe Sanh Combat Base during the Tet Offensive in 1968, providing critical airlift support to the besieged Marines on the ground.
