These cases were originally designed to hold many different types of military night vision and infrared equipment. These pouches could easily be re-purposed for other uses, and could be used as a sling bag if you attach a strap to the two D-rings on either side of the pouch. It could also be attached to your belt using the webbing strap and buckle, and the attached string to secure around your thigh.
