Used LP Duke Pearson: "Wahoo!" DMM RM/RE Blue Note in Very Good+/Near Mint

Description: [Apologies for the pics. My new (cheap) camera insists on using flash every shot, causing glare, and telephoto/wide adjustment is not sensitive enough to frame things properly.] DUKE PEARSON “Wahoo!” Used reissue LP in Very Good+/Near Mint condition. Blue Note Records Catalog # BST 84191; 1964 sessions reissued 1986 via Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) Condition: Vinyl is reasonably clean, though less than super-quiet; thus only rates VG+ with my very honest grading. LP jacket nearly pristine, has very mild ring impression and very small crinkle at lower right, both as seen from front. Behind the Music: Duke Pearson was a very competent pianist who became better known for compositional skills. This is a truly classic Blue Note “blowing session,” recorded by Rudy Van Gelder, featuring top-notch accompanists—Donald Byrd, Joe Henderson, James Spaulding, Bob Cranshaw and Mickey Roker. All the tunes here but one, Donald Byrd’s “Fly Little Bird Fly,” are Pearson originals. This album is probably available as a Japanese pressing on better vinyl, but what I am offering is the domestic Capitol-manufactured reissue. The question is again begged: What’s the point of using Direct Metal Mastering for a reissue if the vinyl is not up to snuff? Well, folks, that’s the record industry for ya!! You gotta take the bad with the good! About the seller: I am downsizing my personal belongings, and you can benefit. Unless otherwise indicated, all my records have been owned by me alone and treated with loving care. No scratches or gouges. I have been a Jazz radio broadcaster for 30+ years, but my musical tastes are wide-ranging. You will see this as my listed offerings grow. New items added weekly, check back often! PLEASE NOTE: I will not sell anything for less than $9.99, as it’s not worth packaging the item up and taking it to the Post Office. Sure, you can buy an LP for 50 cents or less at a yard sale, but will it have been cared for like mine? Not likely. FREE SHIPPING to U.S. address for purchase of any item of $100 or more.
