Description: FREE Shipping Lower 48 States !! My Grandfather whom I was not fortunate enough to ever meet in person before his passing Capt. Clifford M. Jenner served in WWl under General George S. Patton in the Tank Corps. I remember as a young teen being amazed after flipping through a thick leather photo album with Black/White photos of Early Military Tanks as well as Military paperwork with Patton & Eisenhower signatures. I recall viewing his Foot Locker with his uniform very neatly folded as well as his Cap & Helmet along with his trusty Colt 45. He had obtained a German Spike Helmet with Officers Lugers as well which were quite interesting. With the outbreak of WWll Capt. Jenner served as the Commanding Officer 1944-45 period at both the Ortonville SD & Bena MN US POW Camps # 4 & #11. The Camp was in two states with the headquarters located in South Dakota & the Stockade located in Minnesota. The POWs consisted of Professional/Career German Soldiers as well as Italian Soldiers who were put to work as Farm Labor, Canning, Logging etc. My Grandfather purchased & supplied R.CASFRETTI ?? (tough to read if this is even correct) the materials to paint this Magnificent Rendering of " The Isle of Capri " which was simply a moment captured in the memory of Casfretti's who was an Italian Art Instructor during peacetime however was eventually captured in Africa. This Seascape is Framed & Painted in Oil on Canvas & measures approximately 19 Wide x 15 inches Tall. Casfretti was later captured in Africa serving as an Italian Soldier under Rommel's Command aka (The Desert Fox). The last name is hard to make out or read so I may be spelling it incorrectly. You may be able to contact Camp Algona or possibly a POW government records division for the correct information. If that doesn't work hire Wes Cowan from History Detectives PBS series he is well known for finding facts. This was presented or gifted to my Grandfather at the POW Camp. After the war ended many soldiers who enjoyed their time spent as POWs in the States remained in the USA & began building fruitful careers & families rather than returning to their Motherland of Italy. If you are a family member or descendant of R. Casfretti or a US Military Museum & can prove these facts or have verifiable credentials I will lower the price 3,500 for you. If you are simply an art dealer/collector or philanthropist & pay full price I will donate 3,500 to your favorite US Military Veterans Group. Great neat piece of History from long ago with a unique provenance !!
