MGen Pugh was commissioned a cavalry officer from the U.S. Military Academy in 1932. In WW2 he was the G2 of I Corps in the Philippines, was captured by the Japanese at Corregidor, was in the Bataan Death March, and a POW from 1942 to 1945. His commands included: 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment in the 82nd ABN Division, ('49-'50), 2d Squadron 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment ('57-'58), Chief of Staff of 2d Army ('60-'62), Commander, 3d Armored Division NATO ('62-'64), and Commander, VI Corps ('64-66). He retired in 1966 and passed in 1994 at Round Hill, Va, in 1994.
