There are copies of several rejection letters at the front of the book; The title page has a note written and dated 1991 (to Co. James C. Averill) and signed by author (Brownie) ; This a softcover copy , Not printed original. As the author has an order form where he did sell copies privately himself as the bottom half of the form is missing. The order form letter states , the draft for this book started in 1984. "Many additions , changes and corrections , have been made since then , and continue to be made as I try to improve the overall story. Research continues on unfinished portions of the story" But I have no idea if this is the authors final version , as absolutely no information can be found on this book on a internet search. almost 2" thick, title page states about 91,000 words; copyright 1987 ; cover is a stiff notebook cover ; top outside page edges show light dirtying / foxing ; inside pages appear clean, nice condition ; good binding ; several black & white illustrations throughout. After graduating from high school in 1938, he completed a college Civilian Pilot Course that earned him a private pilot's license. He enlisted as an aviation cadet in the Army Air Corps and in 1943 graduated as 2nd Lt. Bomber Pilot. In 1944, the group deployed to India and began operations against the Japanese Empire from the CBI Theater. 1st Lt. Brown flew 22 flights over the Himalayas (Hump) and six combat missions from Chakulia, India and Hsinching, China before being checked out as an aircraft commander and getting his own combat crew. Capt. Brown completed a tour of 35 combat missions, rotated to the States and was discharged in January 1946. Upon his return from W.W. II Fount married Helen Audett Bond on August 22, 1945. In 1946 Fount enlisted as a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Army. In 1947 he was integrated in the regular Army and recalled as a Captain B-29 pilot. Major Brown flew 22 combat missions over North Korea before transferring to a B-47 unit at Smoky Hill AFB, Kansas. Next came a three-year tour at Headquarters Strategic Air Command, then duty as 1st pilot on a B-52 aircrew at Beale AFB, Calif. Lt. Col. Brown retired in 1965 with 23 years military service. He then worked five years at Beechcraft Corp., Wichita, Kan. before moving to Meridian, Idaho. After earning a teaching certificate at Boise State University, he taught for a total of 17 years at the Meridian Junior High and Middle Schools before retiring.
