U.S. Admiral Caspar F. Goodrich Served Spanish-American War, WW 1 Autograph

Description: Admiral Caspar F. Goodrich [1847 1925] was a decorated United States naval officer who began his career in 1864 and was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and World War I. During the Spanish American War he commanded the USS St. Louis and USS Newark and received the surrender of Manzanillo, Cuba following the bombardment. After the war he served as Commandant of the Philadelphia, Portsmouth and New York Navy Yards and as the Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Squadron. Recalled to active duty in World War I, he served as officer-in-charge of the Pay Officers Material School at Princeton. Listed for auction is the autograph of Admiral Caspar Frederick Goodrich signed on a card The autograph is signed ''C. F. Goodrich Rear Admiral U.S. Navy. Commander the Auxiliary Cruiser St. Louis during the Spanish American War.'' in black fountain pen. The page measures 4.50 x 3.50 inches, it has trivial toning otherwise it is in fine condition. The autograph is authentic and is a nice example of this noted United States Navy officer. We have listed a nice collection of aviators, explorers, astronaut and military autographs. This autograph is part of a unique World War I collection which was gathered by a collector who began corresponding with United States generals who served in the [AEF] American Expeditionary Force in France during World War I. The autographs we obtained between 1917 and the early 1920's, many in the collection are dated and the generals added their commands. The autographs are signed on cards which were removed from pages, overall in very good to fine condition, most have mounting remnants on the verso and collectors notations and many are accompanied with period newspaper photographs.
