Lovely 19th century engraved and lithographed map with original hand color. Mitchell maps of this mid-century era were issued with a range of color as well as variant decorative borders. Many specific ancient sites, ruins, temples and monuments are identified along the Nile river and in the areas around it. The inset lower left notes how a long section of the river is "very little known".
