A two-span, pin connected, high Pratt, iron truss bridge, it is one of the oldest wrought iron truss bridges in the Adirondack/Champlain Region. It was fabricated and erected by Murray, Dougal and Company of Milton, Pennsylvania. Although primarily a railroad car manufacturer, the company built bridges from the early 1870's to 1880. Today, bridges known to be built by Murray, Dougal and Company are extremely rare. This bridge is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and has been designated an American Society of Civil Engineers National Civil Engineering Landmark along with two other Keeseville bridges.
