🔥 Unusual Vintage Pop Art Psychedelic Disney Mickey Mouse Batik Painting, 1960s

Description: This is a very cool and Unusual Vintage Pop Art Psychedelic Disney Mickey Mouse Batik Painting, dye on finely woven cloth canvas, depicting the portrait of Walt Disney's legendary artistic creation, Mickey Mouse. This piece likely dates to the 1960's - 1970's and has a very striking visual presence. Batik cloth making is an artform originating from Southeast Asia, and its utilization in this portrait painting of a classic American icon is quite impressive. Approximately 16 1/4 x 20 1/4 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 11 x 15 1/8 inches. Signed: "Olivia Chandler Walker" in graphite on the matting, in the lower right corner. I could not find any information on this artist, but perhaps you know more about her or her work. Good condition for age, with some mild scuffing and edge wear to the vintage period aluminum frame (please see photos.) Acquired in Los Angeles, California. About the Pop Art Movement: POP ARTPop art is an art movement that emerged in the 1950s and flourished in the 1960s in America and Britain, drawing inspiration from sources in popular and commercial culture. Different cultures and countries contributed to the movement during the 1960s and 70s. Emerging in the mid 1950s in Britain and late 1950s in America, pop art reached its peak in the 1960s. It began as a revolt against the dominant approaches to art and culture and traditional views on what art should be. Young artists felt that what they were taught at art school and what they saw in museums did not have anything to do with their lives or the things they saw around them every day. While employing irony and parody, it focused more on what American popular imagery represented, and its power in manipulating people’s lifestyles.
