Description: This is a fascinating and Unusual Vintage Modern Figural Abstract Surrealist Ghost Painting, Gouache on Paper, by the talented Mid Century California Modernist painter, Stevan Kissel. This piece depicts two ethereal unclothed ghostly figures, finely rendered in various shades of grayscale. The male figure is seated and appears to be unhappy, or in a deep state of contemplation. The Rubenesque female figure appears to comfort him, from a standing position. The background of this artwork is also a darker gray, and it was difficult for me to photograph this piece (I apologize for any glare or visual interference.) Signed: "S. Kissel" in the lower right corner. This painting very likely dates to the 1960's - early 1970's. Approximately 18 3/4 x 26 1/2 inches (including frame.) Actual visible artwork is approximately 12 1/4 x 20 inches. Good condition for age, with moderate - heavy scuffing, edge wear, and paint loss to the original painted vintage wood frame. Additionally, there are some speckles of debris which are visible under the glass, and at the edges of the matting (please see photos.) Acquired from an old collection in Los Angeles County, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer.
