Description: Up for bid is an unusual English sterling tined pearl handle lettuce(?) fork by James Deakin & Sons, Sheffield, 1904-05. The fork is 9 1/4 inches long and weighs 59 grams (including the handle). The tines are perfectly flat, with engraved decoration on one side. The rounded mother-of-pearl handle has a sterling ferrule. It has not been monogrammed. The tines are marked with a maker's mark of [JD/WD] and Sheffield hallmarks for 1904-05 as shown. The ferrule on the handle is marked [GHB] with Sheffield hallmarks for 1903-04. Condition on the fork is good. There is very minor tine waviness and normal wear of age. A fun piece of English silver.
