UNSIGNED VINTAGE ART POTTERY VASE LUSTROUS CRYSTALLINE BROWN GLAZE 8 3/16" TALL

Description: Crystalline Glaze Art Pottery Vase Description and Item Information Up for sale is this mysterious, unsigned art pottery vase. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This cylindrical vase rests on a narrow foot, and it has a slightly flared rim. The piece appears to be hand thrown, and throwing rings are more apparent on the interior than on the exterior. It has a lustrous brown glaze. Upon close examination, this is a crystalline glaze; some of the crystals are larger and easier to see, and some just lend the appearance of a fine, golden sheen. This was difficult to capture in the photography, and it is best viewed under bright light. The clay body is white porcelain. The vase stands approximately 8 3/16 inches tall, with a diameter of about 3 1/2 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 1 pound 5.3 ounces. This would be a fine addition to a collection of art pottery. Identification This pot is unmarked, and the manufacturer is not known. The exact age of this piece is not known and it is vintage or possibly even antique. Condition The vase looks very good overall, with no chips or post-production cracks. It has light wear, with a fine, scattered scuff mark here or there. The interior has some soiling from use. There is a small, glazed-over indent to the edge of the rim (visible in Photos 2 and 3). Under close examination, I found a short (about 1/4 inch), fine, as-made firing fissure to the top side of the rim (Photo 3, at approximately the 11:30 position on the interior rim); this does not looks like a post-production crack under magnification. Also as made, there are a couple of tiny, raised bumps and there are a few tiny, scattered glaze bubble pops. Variations in glaze application are as made.
