Description: Graceful Lyre-shaped Legs Support This Table. Original 1950 magazine article on making this special table. Covers 3 pages. Pages 12, 13, 14 of January - February 1950 issue of THE HOME CRAFTSMAN. Article includes drawings that can be reproduced to scale, a build list of supplies and materials needed. The article begins:It was around 1810 when Duncan Phyfe was using the lyre so successfully in the elegant tables and chairs that have made his name a synonym for exquisite design and perfection in craftsmanship. Our jigsawed end table has its inspiration in the tables that Phyfe made. Although we have left off the chaste carvings and moldings and eliminated the difficult joinery, the graceful sweep of the lyre and the curule legs carry with them the same classic beauty. The magazine pages are in overall good condition. The edges were trimmed; the paper is thin; no tears or markings on pages; please review photos attached. I'll place the pages inside a plastic sleeve and add a piece of white foam board for protection, while mailing by USPS Ground Advantage in a large bubble envelope. I'll mail the same day, or next day after payment is received.
