GEORGIA DOMEThe Georgia Dome, located in Atlanta, Georgia, was a multi-purpose stadium that served as the home of the Atlanta Falcons from 1992 until 2016. Opened on September 6, 1992, the dome had a seating capacity of approximately 71,000 and was, at the time of its completion, the largest domed structure in the world. It featured a fabric roof, which allowed it to host events in a climate-controlled environment, making it versatile for both sporting events and concerts. In addition to Falcons games, the Georgia Dome hosted several significant events, including two Super Bowls (XXVIII in 1994 and XXXIV in 2000), NCAA basketball tournaments, including the Final Four, and various college football games, notably the annual SEC Championship.Beyond football, the Georgia Dome was a key venue for the 1996 Summer Olympics, where it hosted gymnastics and basketball events. Its central location in downtown Atlanta made it an iconic part of the city’s sports landscape for nearly 25 years. After the Falcons moved to the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2017, the Georgia Dome was demolished on November 20, 2017.
