Adams Tight Lies 19* 5 Wood, Idea 17* 3I, 21* 4I, 25* 5I, I-Woods SET Adams Tight Lies 19* Strong 5 Wood Back in the early 1990s Adams looked at the fairway wood and decided they could make it more forgiving if the top section was at the bottom. So they turned the club upside down and the Tight Lies range of woods was created, which as the name implies were very good at getting the ball away from tight fairway lies.Twenty years later the lies in the fairway have not improved but the Tight Lies range of Woods has been relaunched by the new look Adams that is now owned by TaylorMade. Indeed this is the first club from the Adams featuring their new logo. The first thing I wanted to see when the Tight Lies arrived was to see if that distinctive sole had made it to the new design and I am pleased to say that it has. It may look a little odd but trust me that it works. The unique low centre section on the face drops the sweet spot and from good lies and bad you feel as though the clubface reaches down to pick up the ball. Even with a 16 degree 3-wood it was very easy to get the ball up and away from deep lies in the rough. The other thing this design gives you is a lot of playability from a varitey of lies as the low centre portion on the sole is then cambered towards the heel and toe, much more so than any other club around. In its day the original Tight Lies and the Callaway War Bird sole mastered the cambered sole, so it is great to see this back. Some of the high lofted 19 or 22 degree models could be perfect for getting the ball out of semi-rough or even low lipped fairway bunkers and this is probably where they club will appeal most. They are almost hybrid like in their size and performance so if you like using hybrids but prefer the style of fairways then this could be the wood for you.Review: "Late last summer I bought an Adams Strong 5 for those 185 to 200 yard shots where I could only occasionally hit my #3 iron. This club is responsible for taking 5-6 strokes off my game. It is extremely easy to hit and everyone who has tried it has had the same success I have. I can highly recommend this club for those of you who need help in that range. I liked it so much I bought a #7 which I have not yet had a chance to use. Be cautious of look alikes. Buy THE Adams and you will not be disappointed." Adams Idea 17* 3I, 21* 4I, 25* 5I, I-Woods The Idea i-Wood head is designed to help golfers get the ball airborne quickly and effortlessly with pinpoint accuracy towards the target, giving you added confidence from even the most difficult lies. The mass of the compact club head offers the distance of a fairway wood, with easier playability and control. The center of gravity of the I-Wood is lower. This creates a higher trajectory and softer landing shot than an iron of comparable loft, without sacrificing distance. The patented Tight Lies upside-down design provides larger effective hitting area below the equator of the ball for greater forgiveness on off-center hits. Review: "I am 44 5'11' 170lbs. My intro to Adams clubs was buying the wife a tight lies fairway wood. I tried it and found it easy to hit but I hit it way to high. I then picked up a ST driver and a 13* strong 3 wood. Love the driver but am unpredictable with the 3 wood. My wife is a relatively new golfer and struggles hitting anything below a 5 iron. I bought her a 17* and 21* I-wood set in a senior flex last year. I tried it and love the way it feels and how it is weighted. I have hit many 215 plus shots with it. My home course has a 210 par 3 which I consistently hit now. I flew green from the rough 230yrds out this year. Can't wait to buy a set in stiff flex. The wife hits these clubs well on the range and from the tee on par 3's but has trouble in the fairway. I am confident she will overcome her struggle this year. I hope not soon or she will start beating me if her short game improves. I have a high accuracy ratio using this club compared to my 2 iron or 3 wood and have made it my go to club. I am a strong advocate of Adams clubs and feel the Idea line will improve most players game. I have a playing partner who tried it a few times and loves it he is 63 and hits it about 185. Highly recommend this for the average player!" This Used Wood & Hybrids SET is playable and in good condition. There are some small chips and scuffs in the heads from previous play.
