The boards beneath these jackets are gorgeous - maroon with beautiful gold embossed designs and lettering. The first page has tissue paper separating the title page and covering a sketch of the artist. Each illustration is covered with one or two pages of tissue paper. The design of these volumes is very beautiful, featuring thick creamy paper. Clean inside and out. Showing the wear of age to some degree, but in remarkably good condition. The surface of the dustjackets do have signs of having been handled, and are designed to keep the actual boards well protected.
