Description: Two antique, circa 1890 intaglio raised tiles, from The Providential Tile Works, Trenton, NJ.The tile of young girl, with the head cap in the dark greenish color is stamp on the back "THE PROVIDENTIAL TILE WORKS, TRENTON.NJ. A.65. B.K.R.&C.", the tile dates to circa 1886-1890 when Isaac Broome was working at Providential; B.K.R. stands for Broome, Kirkham and Robinson. The second tile of lovely girl in a rich dark brown color is marked with the A.64 stock number, so I believe it was made at the same, or earlier date than the first tile. Both tiles have chipped off corners, but the main body of tiles is not damaged; if framed, the damage corners could be covered by the frame. The tiles are about 4.5"x4.5".
