Description: Two (2) FHF 28 movements. One is on a dial, the dial says Melrose and in a very nice screw down case. Has 2 hands, hour and minute. The dial looks in useable condition I can find no major flaws. Case looks great. The other looks OK on one side (watchmaker’s side) but the other side has bunch of rust. That one has a second hand In the capsule with it. The one on the dial has 2 hands. missing second hand , that may be the second hand. Found following “The FHF caliber 28 is an interesting mens' size movement from the mid last century. Since this movement uses a direct driven center second, but was constructed in a classic way with a large minute wheel, it had to be made in two layers, which led to a large height. Be the slanted shape of the bridge gives it a very pleasent look and the two gold-toned chatons made it technical superior, too. So, it’s easy to say, that FHF belonged to the upper league. The balance is, a bit unusal for FHF, beared in two three-leg shock protection systems, like Trishock.” FHF 28 17 jewels, 18,000 BPH, 10.5 ligne. The Fabrique d'Horlogerie de Fontainemelon (FHF) was founded in 1793. In 1816 FHF began production of watch movements, becoming the first ebauche movement manufacturer ever. It became a founding member of Ebauches SA,in 1926, and for decades produced movements in the millions. Destroyed by the quartz crisis, what was left of FHF was absorbed by ETA in 1985. I’m selling on ebay some 1950’s-1970’s mechanical movements my father left .He was a watchmaker from 1960 to his death in 1996. I AM SELLING THESE AT EXTREMELY LOW PRICE . ASSUME YOU ARE BUYING OLD BROKEN WATCH MOVEMENTS FOR PARTS. Watch movements are not for “handy” people who think can “pop out’” old movement and replace with movement they got on ebay. They are only of value to someone qualified to repair watches. not serviced in 40+ years , with no oil or gunk for oil. Need cleaning, lying untouched for 4 decades.
