Description: Pella, population 10,352 as of the 2010 census, was founded in 1847 by 800 immigrants from the Netherlands. In 1935 the people had an impromptu gathering of Dutch Ancestors. The Tulip Time Festival came about and is an annual 3 day fun time in May. There are parades twice a day, Grandstand shows and of course the famous street sweeping of those in costumes. Pella plants close to 200,000 tulip bulbs to make a beautiful sight.
