Description: On offer, we have an original etching by California artist Trude Hanscom. It is signed "Trude Hanscom", numbered "15/8" and titled "Western Night" in pencil below the etching. This shows Billly Goats under a starry sky. On off white paper, this measures 21 1/2" X 13" with the image 18" X 10 1/2". About the artist: Gertrude (Trude) Hanscom (1890-1975) Was a California "painter, printmaker and teacher. Hanscom was a member of and exhibited with the California Art Club, the California Printmakers, the Society of American Graphic Artists, the Glendale Art Association, the Pasadena Society of Artists, and the Women Painters of the West for which she served as the first vice president. Her work was included in the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition in San Francisco and the 1943 exhibition of Women Painters of the West at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for which she was awarded the Julia Ellsworth Ford Prize for oil painting. In 1965, she received an Honorary Life Membership in the Society of American Graphic Artists. Her work is represented in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Library of Congress and the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; and the Wichita Art Museum, Kansas." (The Annex Galleries) This is in excellent condition. The print is bold, clean and clear with a nice imprint. There a spot on the lower right corner and a slight scuff over the penciled number. There is tape on the back from when this was once in a matte. It has been handled and has some light wrinkles, but no creases. As I am not an expert on art, please see my photographs for more description. This is from my friend who collects everything and is starting to part with a few of his treasures.
