Description: Tree in Winter Landscape | Small Painting/Study by Walter Gutbrod Tree in Winter Landscape | Small Painting/Study by Walter Gutbrod Walter Gutbrod (1908 - 1998) Walter Gutbrod (* 5 July 1908 in Zuffenhausen; † 6 June 1998 in Ludwigsburg) was a German painter in the style of expressive realism. He was active as an artist (painter) for over 70 years and at the same time worked as an art educator for almost 50 years, mainly in the Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg area. Born as an only child, Gutbrod began an intensive artistic exploration of his environment at the age of 12, which is documented in his diaries. From 1927 to 1932 he studied at the Stuttgart Academy with Professors Spiegel, Breyer, Habich, Graf and Eckener. In 1932 he completed the teacher training examination and moved to Duisburg, where he worked as a teacher in a private institute. He later returned to his homeland and married Lydia Siegel, daughter of a cattle dealer, civil society on 28 December 1933 and church on 6 January 1934. This marriage, which was never divorced, produced two daughters Linde and Regine. From 1 April 1935 Gutbrod worked as administrative administrator in the Katharinenstift Stuttgart and taught art at the Schiller and Mörike Gymnasium in Ludwigsburg from 1937 to 1979. In 1940 he became a teacher at the Gymnasium in Korntal and lived in Ludwigsburg from 1943. Despite his old age, he retired in 1979, long after reaching retirement age, and intensified his artistic work. His last dated picture was taken on March 14, 1998, and he died in Ludwigsburg on June 6, 1998. Walter Gutbrod was also a passionate music lover, playing as a pianist in front of an audience. His diaries and sketchbooks are full of notes on music and composers, and many of his paintings he signed with a signature "three-note" signature. He maintained contacts with many cultural workers, including Oskar Schlemmer, with whom he was in contact from 1938, and with the well-known pianist Wilhelm Kempff. In the post-war period, he was actively involved in building the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and maintained a long-standing friendship with the Münchinger family. Gutbrod was also actively involved in the founding of the Ludwigsburg Palace Festival and had contacts with artists such as Gustav Schleicher and Willi Baumeister. He was also a member of the Stuttgart Secession. Return: All items can be returned within 14 days with no quibble. Buyer is responsible for return shipping costs.
