ITEM DESCRIPTION: Here is an Absolutely Gorgeous Vintage Circa Mid-Late 1960’s Original Signed Oil Painting in Its Original Period Mid Century Style Frame Depicting a Wonderful Parisian Street Scene at Sunset with the Tops of the Buildings & the Church Domes Lit Up in the Background by the Fading Sunlight, titled from our inventory card, “Paris”, by the painter, ‘Tosi’ (Italian, 20th C.-), whose signature appears lower left in the image corner and features a modern crosshatch-style palette knife painting technique. From our internal records: Tosi (Italian, 20th C.-) studied in Rome and Naples, and was primarily known his oil and acrylic paintings of cityscapes and busy street scenes in many Italian cities, Paris, France and New York City. If anyone out there in the worldwide eBay community may positively identify and know the first name, birth & death dates, and also any possible biographical info for this particular artist, please let us know and we will update the listing accordingly-thank you. About the Painting: Walter Meibohm purchased this painting directly from the well-known Italian painter & art dealer, ‘Mario Mariani’ (Italian, 1907-), out of his art studio & gallery in Naples, Italy, where he represented not only his own work, but that of his two sons, ‘V. Mariani’ & ‘G. Mariani’, who are also accomplished artists (don’t know their first names) as well as other represented artists. Walter knew Mario personally and they were friends, and he dealt with him regularly and his two sons on his yearly art-buying trips. The painting is oil on canvas and has been tucked away this whole time in our archive since it was purchased by the Meibohm family, and is in its original mid century style two-toned, walnut & matte black-stained wood frame with cream-colored linen inner liner with inner gold fillet. Size & Condition: The Painting size is 23-7/8” x 12-1/8”, The Size framed is 33-3/4” x 21-1/2”, Visible opening size is 23-1/2” x 11-3/8”.
