The scroll is Hand written in the original Hebrew Script on brown Deer parchment (Gvil) It came to Israel with the immigrants from Morocco in the establishment of the state of Israel and is approximately 250-300 yrs old. The scroll has a warm brown color this is due to the deer parchment that is used and the process used in making the scroll. Scrolls of this type are no longer made and the process for making these distinctive scrolls has been lost over the centuries. Scrolls like these are extremely rare and seldom seen in synagogues due to age and is important for its rarity of the earliest examples the Morocco tradition of the Hebrew writings of the Bible. The scroll contains 17 Sections are sewn together using a thread called giddin which is made from the leg sinews of a kosher animal. The scroll considering its age is well preserved and will stay beautiful with care for centuries to come. Except for signs of wear and age such as worn writing and parchment tears. Overall in good condition in relation to his age. The scroll was written by 2 different writers and with a different parchment processing. One script was written on soft dark brown parchment on both sides, a large and impressive beautiful script. The second script was written on brown deerskin, and on the outside it is bright.
