Description: Hi all! This is a Beautiful Top Quality fossil claw from a large turtle from the infamous Hell Creek formation in Powder River County, Montana! The claw is in PRISTINE condition with a fantastic pointy tip and zero repair or restoration! It measures 1.2295 inches (3.12 cm) long, .3775 inches (.96 cm) tall, and .4065 inches (1.03 cm) wide! It comes in a 1.75 inch gem jar for easy transport and display! The Hell Creek formation dates from 68 to 66 million years ago and produces a wide range of fossils including freshwater fish, stingrays, crocodiles, amphibians, early mammals, turtles, and of course infamous dinosaurs like Triceratops, Pachycephalosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus Rex. There are a wide variety of turtles that lived alongside dinosaurs preserved in this formation including soft shell turtles and the earliest known snapping turtle. The largest species or turtle in Hell Creek could grow to 5 feet across! Much like today, these turtles would have preyed on small fish and invertebrates while themselves being prey for larger crocodilians and dinosaurs!
