Description: From my uncle's personal collection, this is a set of 7 traditional Tokiwa chawanmushi mugs (complete with matching lids and saucers). I am including a set of 4 ceramic brown mugs/cups as well (as pictured). One of the brown mugs has some ink transfer, I think from paper it was wrapped in (see last photo). Chawanmushi mugs- Diameter of the saucer: 10.5 cm- Diameter of cup: 7.5 cm- Height: 9 cm All items are made in Japan. ExplanationThe chawanmushi (茶碗 蒸 し), literally the steamed tea bowl (茶碗, chawan) (蒸 し, mushi), is an egg custard from Japanese cuisine which has, among other ingredients, the seed of ginkgo. We also usually put chicken and shrimp in it. It is generally available in multiple variations in its ingredients as well as in the broth used. This recipe can be easily adapted to everyone's tastes.
