Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself! Beautiful advertising poster banner here. Have never come across one like it before. The piece was done by Nickles Bakery of Ohio. They have been in business since 1909 and still are. The banner is printed on fabric, not paper, and has a black metal hanger on the top. That makes this piece unique in itself. Then we get to what is captured on the banner. Besides the Toastmaster bread reference, we have a full length image of a George Washington statue with a walking cane in hand, and an American flag hanging behind him. The base of the Washington Statue had "My Country Tis of Thee, Sweet Land of Liberty". A spread winged golden colored Eagle at the top middle of the banner. The bottom of the banner notes the name of the product, Toastmaster Bread, and then says "Enriched with vitamins and iron" below that. The piece probably dates to the 1930s to 1940s based upon the attire of the family viewing the statue of George Washington. Expect patriotic theme is due to period around World War II. The poster banner a printed in image on what appears to be fabric. Can see the weaving of the material under magnification. The coloring of the banner is still pretty good, some loss from age and probably sun exposure, but still looks good. The black metal hanger bracket is still in place at the top. Fabric is torn for about 2.5" on the left and about 1" up on the right by the hanger bracket. We see no other tears or repairs to the piece. There appear to be some flecks of white stuff, also in other colors that have gotten between the banner and the inside of the glass. Move around when shake the piece, so not embedded on the poster. The piece is framed in a black enamel wood frame. Shows some finish loss. The glass or plexiglass over the piece is intact. No matting. We have not examined the banner out of the frame. The Bread Advertising banner in frame is 39-5/8" tall, by 15-5/8" across, by 7/8" wide. The banner showing in the frame is 34-7/8" tall, by 11.5" across.
