Description: Offered is the book "To Seek a Newer World-A History of Columbia County, Georgia", written by Gerald D. Smith and published in Murfreesboro, Tennessee by the Southern Heritage Press. The book has a 2001 copyright date and appears to be a first edition. It has been signed by the both the author and the illustrator, William Clarence Blackard (Bill). In addition to Blackard's black and white illustrations, there are numerous black and white photos. The original dust jacket is included. A signed copy of this book is a rare find; at the time of original listing I could not find another for sale on eBay or anywhere else. The book is approx. 9 1/4" x 6 1/2" and contains 183 pages. It is in excellent condition. The dark blue hard cover has no wear, the gold words on the spine still shiny. There is no cracking inside either the front or the back cover. The white endpapers are clean. I see no missing or torn pages and all are well-attached to the binding and clean. I see no writing in the book other than the author's and illustrator's signatures. The glossy dust jacket has no tears but does have some light crease lines. I have a lot of experience with vintage and antique books but am not an expert so please let me know if my description is missing information and you have additional questions. I will do my best to answer them! Please take a moment to look at some of the other items in my eBay store!
