Description: Back in the 60s when I was growing up if you cut yourself there were two choices of antiseptic… Merthiolate (which burned when applied) and Mercurochrome (which looked the same but didn’t burn). Every household had both. Mercurochrome was invented in 1910 by this company. The bottle is tiny but is still embossed “HYNSON WESCOTT DUNNIBNG” across the front. It is 2” tall and just under 1” square rising to a handmade neck and flare collared lip. This has the remnant of the cork with a hole in the middle indicating an applicator. Looking at the old ads you can see it was a nice glass applicator making the little bottle quite elegant looking. Looking straight on you can see that the sides are not symmetrical which is what we love in a hand made bottle. There is no damage and it is very clean. So now you just have to find that glass applicator!
