Description: I'm selling a set of six blue Tsaikka hand blown hot drink glasses with metal clip. I have a total of two sets. History of the glass: Timo Sarpaneva designed a series of different hand blown tumblers in the 1950s and 1960s. One of those classes would later be known as the classic "Tsaikka" hot drink glass. This tumbler without it's clip was sold until 1965. Apparently he got an idea of the metal clip while visiting a zipper factory as the factory had a lot of surplus material; metallic parts with symmetrical holes in them. From my understanding the first series of Tsaikka - glasses were manufactured using the zipper surplus material as the clip. Purple and blue Tsaikka glasses were discontinued by Iittala on 1971 but the clear one is still in production. Use of Tsaikka glass: Elegant and beautiful design is great for tea, Irish coffee or other hot drinks. You can take the metal clips off and use as a normal tumbler for juice, water and other refreshment. Size and condition: Glasses are approx 8 cm tall (3'25"). Volume is 23 cl.(approx. 7 Oz) Great vintage condition. Only minimal sings of use. No chips, no crack and no deep scratches. There are small color deepness variations between the glasses. The clip has silver color and is made of metal. I wrap carefully and all my items are insured for lost or broken.
