Preload the spring on the automatic timing lock by pushing the slide handle forward and turn it clockwise to engage either of the two locking slots. 4. Manually, turn engine in direction of rotation(usually counter clockwise)until a notice “click” sound is heard. 5. The automatic timing pin plunger has now engaged the flywheel timing holes in either the top center compression or exhaust stroke. 6. To remove, turn slide handle counter clockwise to release spring tensile force on the plunger (if plunger doesn't retract from flywheel with light pressure, jog the flywheel back and forth). Unscrew from flywheel housing. 9U-7227 Injector Height Tool: Application: Works for Caterpillar 3406E, C-15, C-16 Use Instruction: 1. When you finish the valve adjustments to theinjector height, you can use the tool to accurately adjust the injector height to 78.0 ± 0.2 mm (3.07 ± 0.01 inch).
