No matter the results of your measuring, this pack includes a shim that will fit your needs. All made here in the USA! From Tick Performance:Our Slave Cylinder Ultimate Shim Kit for shimming clutch slave cylinders provides precise shimming to ensure proper clutch disengagement. It's essential to check this measurement when replacing or servicing a clutch. We've taken our 20 years of experience with T-56/TR-6060 performance transmissions to offer American-made components with the best possible performance and quality. Get shifting with us! The hydraulic clutch slave must make proper contact with the clutch. If not, the clutch hydraulic system can be damaged. Shimming the slave allows for optimal performance from your hydraulic system. However, unlike some Internet-spread misconceptions, shimming does not increase the slave's travel. Shimming locates the slave cylinder itself in a better and more stable location. By setting the slave cylinder throw out bearing closer to the base of the cylinder, you gain structural integrity in the slave housing. You also allow yourself more net slave cylinder stroke if ever needed. By doing this, you increase the service life of of your hydraulic system and you ensure yourself that you have a system that is working at its max potential. The shims are color coded for ease of use, using a high-strength anodizing that does not add material to the shims, maintaining the accurate thickness. All shims are manufactured from aerospace-quality aluminum with tolerances less than .005". Shims can be used individually or combined to provide 120 combinations. See our instructional video to see how to shim your slave cylinder precisely. We recommend that you maintain a slave cylinder setup dimension of between .150" and .200" About the Corvette Specific Set-Up Tool:Get the precise measurement the first time with our Slave Cylinder Setup Tool. The internal slave cylinder must be installed within the correct operating window to ensure proper clutch disengagement and maximum service life. An often overlooked part of the installation process, if the slave is not installed correctly, it can lead to clutch disengagement issues and or premature failure of the slave cylinder itself. This can cause damage to the clutch and major headaches. This tool is designed to give you accurate measurements to ensure the slave cylinder is set up correctly. Using a known distance from your tool, you can precisely measure and shim your internal slave cylinder with ease. Instructions/Tools: This tool does require the use of calipers or similar measuring devices. Set-Up Tool Features:It makes slave cylinder setup easyGives accurate measurements to ensure correct slave cylinder setupProper use can help extend and maximize clutch lifeIt Helps provides proper clutch disengagement How to determine if a shim is needed for your setup: During each and every clutch install you perform on a newer GM vehicle, you must measure to see if a shim is necessary for proper installation. This is done by taking two simple measurements (see worksheet in picture attachment): 1) Measurement "A" is the distance between the surface of the bellhousing that meets the transmission to the tip of the pressure plate fingers. To get an accurate measurement, the clutch must be torqued properly. 2) Measurement "B" is the distance between the throwout bearing surface to the transmission surface that meets the bellhousing. To get an accurate measurement, the slave spring must be removed and the bearing must be fully seated at the bottom of it's travel; resting on the slave's base. Once you've got your two measurements, make sure that measurement "B" is ~3/16" to 1/8" LESS than measurement "A". If you come up with more than 1/8", add an appropriately sized shim between the slave cylinder and the transmission in order to get the measurements where they need to be. Your “A minus B” measurement should be 0.125 to 0.200 for adequate bearing travel and to allow for clutch wear. If there is no difference between the two measurements, or if "B" is greater than "A", there could be a problem with clutch engagement which could result in premature clutch slip and eventually a total failure.
