Description: Presenting three earlier fine original mother-and-child works by listed artist Jean-Pierre Rousseau. The three appear to be drawn with charcoal, pencil, and pastel, and one having gouache paints as well. Two are vertical format, one horizontal. All are signed and dated on the front by the artist. All show artist's sensitivity to the models portrayed. The horizontal format charcoal drawing is on paper measuring about 21 by 15 inches, or 53 by 38 cm, done in 1969. The small, reddish, vertical format work measures about 16 by 12 inches, or 41 by 30.5 cm. The largest of the three, with the gouache, appears to have charcoal as well, and is on richly brown paper, done in 1971. Its paper measures about 24 by 18 inches or 60.5 by 46 cm. All the mats are about 28 by 22 inches, or 71 by 56 cm. Some of the artist's biographical information, and extensive resume, we found on the Galeria JAN website: "Jean-Pierre Rousseau was born in Paris in 1939. He is descended from a French aristocratic family. After he graduated from law school he decided to become a full time artist. His first art critiques we find in "Nice Matin" newspaper from 1957. The critics haven't stopped writing about him since. In 1961 Prince Rainier and Princess Grace Kelly started to sponsor his exhibitions all over the world and became some of his biggest collectors. Mr. Rousseau traveled and lived in many places around the world, such as Canada, Costa Rica, Monte-Carlo, Paris, and Venice. Today he lives in a small fisher village up north of France. Jean-Pierre Rousseau has had more than 300 exhibitions all over the world.
