Description: Frank Lloyd Wright Glass ArtBy Thomas A. Heinz 1994 Academy Editions (London), 10 1/4 x 12 3/8 inches tall black cloth hardcover in publisher's unclipped dust jacket, gilt lettering to spine, copiously illustrated with full color photographs, 264 pp. Laid in is a fine copy of a 10-page promotional brochure for the Orange County (California) Museum of Art showing of Light Screens: The Leaded Glass of Frank Lloyd Wright. On the main volume: Very slight rubbing to covers. Prior owner gift inscription to blank front free-endpaper, and a tiny Los Angeles bookstore label to the lower margin of the front pastedown. Otherwise, a near fine copy - clean, bright and unmarked - in a like dust jacket which is nicely preserved and displayed in a clear archival Brodart sleeve. This lavishly illustrated book devotes itself to Wright's formidable contribution to the medium and features a number of powerful two-dimensional graphic designs and a number of three-dimensional units. Stained glass in the USA as well as the technical aspects of glass making are discussed. The majority of his work in glass was concentrated into the first decade of the 20th century when Wright abandoned old-fashioned stained glass windows and began experimenting with light screens of concrete developing into wood fretwork and glass block and tubing.
