Description: For your consideration is a scarce peace of religious literature from a famed American educator for the deaf: "The History of Jonah - for Children and Youth". Hardcover, illustrated (only a few, small illustrations),1833 first edition (likely the only edition), 4" x 6.25", 184 pages. Condition is "patina'd" yet sturdy. These hardcovers with a paper covering were popular in the mid-19th C but tended not to hold up to well. This is still intact and largely legible, which is a plus, but has obvious rubbing wear and some soiling as shown. The leather spine is in good shape and the hinges are holding strong. The binding is also holding strong for being near 2 centuries old with no loose pages. Pages have age-appropriate tanning/foxing. Notable edgewear on front and rear boards. However, considering the age this is still a very presentable copy. Extremely scarce. FREE shipping to the USA and I'm happy to ship internationally at cost. Thanks for looking!
