Description: Offered here is " The Works of William Robertson, D.D., fellow of the Royal Society, and Principal of the University of Edinburgh, etc., with a Sketch of his Life and Writings by R.A. Davenport " published by Thomas Tegg, London, in 1826. This 10 volume hardcover set is bound in full green calf bindings with gilt decorations and titles to the spine, and gilt rule on the front and rear boards. The books' end sheets are marbled, as are the edges of the book block. Each volume bears the bookplate of the well-known New York and Philadelphia lawyer Llewellyn Barry [1862 - 1937] on the interior of either the front or rear board, and a second bookplate bearing the initials RR is on the other board. Each petite volume measures approx. 4" x 6.5". These books are tightly bound and in Very Good antiquarian condition, showing some scuffing to the calf covers, wear at the ends of the spine, and light foxing on the end pages; the interior pages are age-toned but for the most part clean and unmarked.
