Individual issues bound without their original wraps, except for the front cover of the first issue in each volume. A scarce multi-volume set of The Word, the official monthly publication of the Theosophical Society of New York (Independent). Included are Volumes III-XIV, covering the period April 1906 through March 1912. The publisher, Harold Waldwin Percival (1868-1953), joined the Theosophical Society in 1892, and in 1896 established the independent Theosophical Society of New York. The Word ran from October 1904 to September 1917. Percival's magnum opus, Thinking and Destiny, was published in 1946.
