Description: The West Texas Frontier or a Descriptive History of Early Times in Western Texas, Containing an Accurate Account of Much Hitherto Unpublished History by Joseph Carroll McConnell VERY RARE, SOUGHT AFTER and LONG OUT OF PRINT Scarce piece of Texana History, published in 1933. There was later published a Volume 2, in 1939. This listing is only for the First Volume. Covers the early days of West Texas, from Spanish and French colonial activities, to Native American encounters, local county historical information, and more. Some black and white photographs included. Red cloth boards protected by plastic sleeve which is easily removable. Boards very good and show mild rubbing/scuffing and wear to the corners, edges, and spine. The spine is straight and the binding square and secure. Very slight warping to the front board. There is slight foxing/soiling/toning here and there to the paste downs, end papers, and page ends. Previous owner's name and date on the front paste down and a previous penciled in price on the front end paper. Rear paste down has a small bit of writing as well. The inner contents are mostly clean and unmarked but there is infrequent marking on some pages to include arrows and some underlining. It is conservative and not egregious. Overall a very solid and handsome copy. Please see all pictures, as they are part of the description. More RARE TEXANA HISTORY BOOKS available. Please see my other items up for sale!
