The artists were naturally also drawn to the cities of 'Oriental' India like Varanasi, Lucknow, Delhi and Agra-even though the last two were then shorn of their historic glory and imperial grandeur. This book deals with the British views of these eight cities during the period when the British were steadily emerging as the dominant power in India. Besides, a general survey of major British landscape artists both professional and amateur-who made early views of India is given in an..." ABOUT US: We are a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.
