Description: This wonderful children's book, a first and only edition, is richly illustrated by Janet Laura Scott. It is part of the Volland boxed "Fairy Children" book series. This hardbound volume measures 6 1/4 by 9 1/4 inches. It is missing the original box, price reflects this. Ruth Plumly Thompson (27 July 1891 6 April 1976) was an American writer of children's stories, best known for writing many novels placed in Oz, the fictional land of L. Frank Baum's classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and its sequels. The book is in good condition for a children's book of its age. Aside from the inscription on the half title page there are no other markings to the pages. The story is beautifully illustrated and the colors really pop. The binding is fully intact. The cover is missing the entire fine wording, instead showing the cloth cover underneath. It also has worn edges and bumped corners. However it still has a great vintage look to the cover.
