Description: This is a fully-illustrated children's book edition of Robert Browning's famous poem, The Pied Piper of Hamlin. Kate Greenaway provided gorgeous illustrations for almost every page. This is a fine parable relating to local culture and the theft of a generation through siren song. It's a parable for children and adults, presented in poem form, gorgeously illustrated here, and perhaps more relevant today than ever. This particular copy is in excellent shape except for some mild scuffing around edges, particularly end-caps. The dust jacket has ruffling along the top, particularly to the right, where a tear has revealed the hardcover beneath. On the back cover are two small rips that have not folded, and must be carefully looked for to find. See pictures for details. Except for the ruffling at the top-right of the dust jacket, the book appears pristine. Pages have a yellow color on the outward facing page-block, indicating notable age. Initial publication was 1901. When this copy was printed is unclear. Since there is an ISBN in a title page, the oldest this book could be is late sixties. Likely it's a mid-seventies to early eighties print. In any case, it is vintage, and it's in both displayable and readable condition. 48 Numbered Pages.
