Description: THE MYSTERIES OF HONORE DE BALZAC. Volume 10 of The Classics of Mystery. (The first four or five volumes of this 12-volume series were issued under the series title, “The Forgotten Classics of Mystery.”) Vintage hardcover book with dust-jacket. Published by Juniper Press, Long Island, NY. 382 pages. I couldn’t find a publication date, but according to an article I found on the internet, the 12 volumes in this series were issued by Juniper Press in the late 1950s and early 1960s. This hardcover book is in Good-to-Very-Good condition with a square, tight spine, and clean, unmarked pages. The spine of the book has some creasing to the gray cloth-covered boards, along with minor-to-moderate wear and bumping at the spine ends, but no significant defects. There are no loose, torn, or missing pages, and no writing, marking, or underlining anywhere in the book. The unclipped dust jacket is in Good-Minus condition with wear and chipping at the spine ends — including a roughly one-inch triangular chip at the bottom of the spine — together with lengthy closed tears along the dust-jacket creases, one of which cuts across most of the front panel. Several pieces of clear tape have been applied to the inside of the jacket to reinforce the spine ends and to seal the closed tears. There is no tape on the outside of the jacket. There is also mild sunning to the spine of the jacket that has caused some fading of the orange background. The dust jacket is now covered in Mylar although all photos except the last one were taken without it. Please see the pictures for details.
