Description: Delve into the gritty narrative of "The Mayor of Casterbridge" by Thomas Hardy, presented in a pristine 1964 edition by Heritage Press. Encased in a hardcover with a slipcover, this collector's item is a treasure for both the literary enthusiast and the art lover. Agnes Miller Parker's illustrations add a layer of depth to Hardy's vivid world, making it a compelling read. This first edition, book club edition, and limited edition all rolled into one, features the classic story that is a staple in the literature and fiction genre. Published in New York and crafted with care in the United States, this piece of literary history is a testament to Hardy's enduring legacy and the timeless nature of his work. Book is in really nice condition with white pages and no stains or tears. The one thing I found is the first 6-8 pages of the Introduction at the beginning the bottom of the pages look like they were trimmed a little bit shorter than the rest of the book. Check out the picture. It's not torn or trimmed. I think it was done during production. The slip cover has wear but no tears. It also comes with the 4 page Sandglass.
