The covers are in a good condition, with minimal fading, slight wear, especially to the edges, softly bumped corners, tanning to the edges and the occasional small mark. The pages are lightly tanned, and in a neat state, with only the very occasional small mark and the occasional light crease or fold to the corners. Volume 2 has a small amount of rubbing to page 14 (as shown in the photo) and a small rip to the bottom of one of the preliminary pages. Volume 1 does not have any rips. There is no pen or pencil written inside of volume 1 and only a small amount of pen written on page 441 of volume 2. The binding is tight in both volumes and there are no loose pages. All 638 pages of volume 1 and 625 pages of volume 2 are present. Volume 2 also includes an additional 8 pages of a list of the Everyman’s Library volumes. Please study the photos carefully as to the condition of this book, as they do form part of the description. Each book measures approximately 17.4 cm by 11.2 cm and 2.5 cm wide. The collective weight of the books is approximately 658 grams. The Life of Samuel Johnson by James Boswell was published in two volumes in 1791 and is a biography of English writer Dr. Samuel Johnson. Boswell was a 22-year-old lawyer from Scotland. He first met the 53-year-old Samuel Johnson in 1763, and they were friends for the 21 remaining years of Johnson’s life. This is a hugely worthwhile and compelling read. Thank you so much for looking.
