Date: August 1895. Editor: Charles Lummis. A broadside advertisement for a magazine of California and the Southwest. In the book, "The World from Here: Treasures of the Great Libraries of Los Angeles," (2002), pg 76, the curators said of this poster, " Crude and colorful, like the man who commissioned them, these posters advertised three issues of Charles Fletcher Lummis's monthly magazine: Land of Sunshine. Lummis claimed in his journal that this represented the first time posters had been used in Los Angeles to advertise a magazine. About the artists, nothing is known. To produce the posters, Lummis used the cyanotype process that he favored for his photographs. Subject: Art/Graphic Design Terms: All orders ship within 2 business days.
