Description: This is a vintage Gibson banjo from pre World War II. Based on the factory order number (9540-40), my research has lead me to believe it is a TB-1 made in 1929. I am not a banjo expert though, so I could be mistaken. I inherited this banjo after my grandfather passed away about 15 years ago, and have kept it stored in climate controlled environments. I used it a couple times on studio recordings, and it sounded great. I have a photo of my grandpa with the banjo from 1933, so I believe he was the original owner and purchased it from a music shop in Superior, Wisconsin. One of the bracket and nut pieces on the body are missing, and another bracket on the body was missing its nut, so I used a standard nut I lying around to attach that bracket. The missing bracket/nut and the non-original nut can both be seen in the photos. The back of the body has a good amount of scratches on it, likely from play. The strings are fairly old, but still sound alright. I don't know if the hard case is the original case, but it's definitely pretty old. Its felt lined, and the felt around the storage compartment is starting to come apart a bit. Other than that though, the case is in pretty good condition. There is also an extra bridge and tailpiece part included in the case.
