Description: The German Russians, Karl Stumpp, 1971, Atlantic Forum. - Jubilee (4th) edition (English): (first edition was in German language, 1964). - Internet review: My father and his family emigrated to America in 1899 from the Black Sea area of Russia-Bessarabia. They settled in South Dakota and the book, 'THE GERMAN-RUSIANS" revealed much of the history of my ancesters before the emigration and after their arrival in South Dakota. Karl Stumpp has a wonderfully described insight into the personal factors that affected the mass emigration from their homeland on the Black Sea area. They were farmers, living almost in a communal style, and farming vast areas of fertile, previously untilled barren farmland. It is the best history book I have found on the subject of the emigration from Russia in the late 1800's. Dr. Raymond Lindeman - 8 x 11. inches approx.; 139 pages approx. - Nearly every page has 1 to 3 b&w photos, perhaps 200-300 in total. Condition: Very Good Condition for this illustrated history. Cover shows almost no wear--clean & bright. Binding/hinges are tight/strong...no spine cracks. Owner name penned inside front. No age-tanning to the glossy paper. Interior is all clean...no tears, creases, marks, stains. Nicely preserved book.
