Sharp, Bright, Clean, Solidly Bound, New Book Illustrated Throughout ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED IN 1929, THIS IS A MINT CONDITION REPRINT PUBLISHED BY BROADFOOT PUBLISHING COMPANY, IN 1995 The first book devoted exclusively to the life of Major John Pelham, the handsome, blond-haired, young officer whose personal courage and contributions to improved artillery tactics earned him the love and respect of his men and Confederate superiors alike. During his brief career, Pelham was actively and successfully engaged in more than 60 battles, including First Bull Run, Williamsburg, the Seven Days, Malvern Hill, Groveton, Second Bull Run, Antietam, and Fredericksburg. His contribution to artillery tactics improved the speed of movement, fire and accuracy, which led Union troops to believe they were facing much larger forces. Union railroads and gunboats felt the sting of his fast-moving horse artillery on raiding expeditions, keeping pace with the fast-moving cavalry columns.
